The university is named after an illustrious former Chief Minister of Rajasthan, the late Haridev Joshi. HJUJ offers an array of innovative courses in journalism and mass communication to combine both theory and practice at the graduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels.

Mster of Journalism in Electronic Media (MJEM)
Duration: 2 years
Intake: 30
Eligibility: Candidates seeking admission into the M.J. (E.M.) Course shall be required to have passed any Bachelor degree from any recognized university. The candidate is also required to pass the entrance test/screening conducted by Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Master of Journalism in Media Studies (MJMS)

Vice-Chancellor of the University Shri Sunny Sebastian informed that educational session of the university will commence in the year 2013-14. Admissions for the 2 year's PG degree course and PG diploma courses of one year will start from this session. The details of the admission procedure will be given through advertisements in May & June. He said educational block of the University has been set up at Indira Gandhi Nagar, Jagatpura while administrative block has been set up at Suchana Kendra, Jaipur.
Gehlot congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on this occasion. The logo has been designed by Shri Vinod Bhardwaj, journalist, painter and visual artist with though inputs from Vice-Chancellor Shri Sunny Sebastian and Registrar of the university Shri S. K. Solanki.
In this logo the globe in a revolving mode inside a medallion signifies the universality of the Institution's reach, scope and approach. The two white, tapering lines on the blue strips signify the human effort to wire the world with the help of communication tools. The colours used are light and dark blue which symbolize learning and education.
The university's slogan, "In Letter and Spirit", denotes the commitment for expression of truth as a whole, in its entirety, and not in the words alone.
Principal Secretary, Dept of Information & Public Relation Shri Rajiv Swaroop; Director, Dept of Information & Public Relation Dr. Loknath Soni, Registrar of the University Shri S. K. Solanki, Former Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Shri P. C. Vyas and other senior journalists were present on this occasion.
Rajasthan govt bans admission process at journalism university:
#Jaipur #Rajasthan Rajasthan government has banned the admission process at Haridev Joshi University of Journalism and Mass Communication for academic year 2016-16 with immediate effect, pending a cabinet sub-committee review.
"As the university is under review of the cabinet sub-committee the fresh admission process for various courses for the academic session 2016-16 is banned until the next orders," a letter dated July 3 addressed to the University's VC by the Joint Secretary of Higher Education said.
When contacted the University Vice Chancellor Sunny Sebastian today said the admission process for the new academic year had begun over 36 days ago and an unexpected order to stop admission process was very unfortunate.
"Four other universities are under review of a cabinet sub-committee, why only HJUJ is targeted," he questioned.
Rajasthan govt bans admission process at journalism university
The University was set up here in 2012 by then Congress government when Ashok Gehlot was Chief Minister.
When the BJP government led by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje took power in December 2013 it formed a committee to review the decisions taken by the Gehlot-government in last six months of its tenure.
The VC said the varsity was established in 2012, over a year before the BJP government took power.
The issue of the University's review by the cabinet sub-committee was also echoed in the Assembly in April this year.
HJU students had then held protest demanding smooth running of the varsity.
Recently, Rajasthan government also issued an order banning new admissions in the Jodhpur National University which had awarded more than 25,000 fake degrees to students.
