The Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) Scheme for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes is formulated and funded by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affairs. B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) Five Year Integrated Course:
RGNUL offers B.A.LL.B. (Hons) Five-Year Integrated Programme where under Social Science subjects like Economics, History, Political Science and Sociology are taught as major and minor subjects along with English, a Foreign Language and Law subjects in the first three years of study
All subjects are compulsory in the first three years. However, in the fourth and fifth year, students are offered optional specializations in four different streams, viz., Business Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and International Law. The successful students are awarded Honours Degree with specialization.
RGNUL follows the Semester System. The teaching methodology includes extensive and intensive class room teaching with emphasis on participative learning. The Course Curriculum includes assignments, seminars and project work. The thrust of the course is not just on learning but also on professional training.
Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, was established by the State Legislature of Punjab by passing the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act, 2006 (Punjab Act No. 12 of 2006). The Act incorporated a University of Law of national stature in Punjab, thereby fulfilling the need for a Centre of Excellence in legal education in the modern era of globalization and liberalization. RGNUL started functioning from its Headquarters-Mohindra  Kothi, The Mall, Patiala w.e.f. 26 May 2006. The University acquired approval of the Bar Council of India (BCI) in July 2006. The University also got registered with the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi under Section 2(f) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and has been declared fit to obtain grant from the (UGC) under Section 12-B of the UGC Act, 1956.
