About University:- Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu came into existence on 20 September 1999 following the amendment in Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Act 1982 through the State legislature.

Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) was an Agricultural University in the Indian condition of Jammu and Kashmir. It was built up in the year 1982 through an Act went by the State Legislature. The University was named after Kashmiri pioneer Sheik Mohammad Abdullah who is prominently known as Sher-e-Kashmir (Lion of Kashmir) Initially, the college had ward over the whole State of Jammu and Kashmir with its central command at Shalimar, Srinagar. With the SKUAST Act in drive, the horticultural instruction, examination and augmentation preparing units were exchanged to SKUAST from different improvement divisions viz; Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Sericulture of Jammu and Kashmir State. In the year 1998-99, the regional purview of the University was re-imagined by revising the SKUAST Act 1982 under which a different farming University was set up for Jammu Division and named as Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) with its regional locale reached out to the whole Jammu Division. The guardian University was renamed as Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K)

JAMMU, June 21: The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) conducted Combined Entrance Test (CET) – 2016, here today.
Total 1670 candidates  appeared  in the entrance test for admission to 123 undergraduate seats in   Agriculture Sciences, Veterinary Sciences and Biotechnology.
Compared to CET -2014, there was a rise of 6 percent students appearing in CET 2016.    In all 1780 students had applied for these three undergraduate programmes  and only 6 percent of the applicants did not turn up for the entrance. For the last three years, SKUAST Jammu has been conducting  its own CET for admission to the professional undergraduate courses offered by it.  CET 2016 was conducted at the university campuses at R S Pura and Chatha , and  at Saint Peter’s  Higher Secondary School Rani Bagh.
